Tanx is an LP by T. Rex from 1973 released on the Reprise Records label.
About this album
Tanx finds T. Rex sharpening glam rock into something tougher and more varied without losing Marc Bolan’s gift for instant hooks. Released in 1973, the album follows the huge success of the band’s early-70s run and pairs Bolan’s swaggering vocal style with a fuller, bluesier backing sound. Tracks such as Born to Boogie, The Street and Babe Shadow and Left Hand Luke and the Beggar Boys show how he could turn riff-driven rock & roll into something sly, melodic and unmistakably his own. Often seen as one of the key albums of T. Rex’s peak period, Tanx captures a band still commercially potent and creatively distinctive.
