Released in 1974 as a compilation of the 1970 LPs The Madcap Laughs and Barrett, it captures the former Pink Floyd founder at his most vulnerable and inventive, balancing haunted psychedelia, acoustic sketches and oddly beautiful melodic fragments. Songs such as Terrapin, Dark Globe, Octopus and Baby Lemonade show how Barrett turned dislocation and wit into something unmistakably personal. Long regarded as one of rock’s most poignant cult statements, it remains central to his legend and influence.
