The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle is an LP by Sex Pistols from 1980 released on the RTC, Virgin label.
About this album
The Great Rock ’N’ Roll Swindle is a mischievous, fragmented companion to the Sex Pistols legend, turning punk rebellion into a soundtrack and media stunt at once. Issued in 1979 alongside the film, it mixes Pistols performances, orchestral cues, covers and outsider material to underline the band’s collapse into spectacle and satire. With contributions associated with Malcolm McLaren’s edit of the story, the release highlights the group’s impact beyond a conventional studio album, turning songs such as My Way and Anarchy in the U.K. into part of a larger argument about fame, sabotage and cultural provocation. It remains one of punk’s most notorious artefacts.
