    Amigos is one of Santana’s most melodically focused and commercially successful 1970s albums, balancing fiery Latin rock with funk, blues and fusion. Released in 1976, it marked a strong return to concise, song-driven writing after the group’s more exploratory early-’70s work. The album was produced by David Rubinson and features the instrumental favourite “Europa (Earth’s Cry Heaven’s Smile)”, one of Santana’s best-known pieces, alongside propulsive cuts such as “Dance Sister Dance (Baila Mi Hermana)”. Its mix of rhythm, guitar tone and accessible hooks helped keep Santana’s sound vital in a decade when rock audiences were shifting fast.
