About this album
Black Radio is Robert Glasper Experiment’s breakthrough fusion of jazz, hip-hop and R&B, and one of the clearest statements in 2010s contemporary jazz. Led by pianist Robert Glasper, the album brought together live improvisation, beat-driven grooves and guest vocalists to blur the lines between jazz, neo-soul and modern R&B. Released in 2012, it helped widen the audience for genre-crossing Black music and won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album, a rare recognition for a project rooted in jazz tradition. Its mix of musical risk and accessible songcraft made it a defining modern crossover record.
