Out of the Cellar is the breakout album that made Ratt one of the defining names of 1980s American hard rock. Released in 1984, it paired glossy Los Angeles glam-metal style with sharper hooks and heavier riffs, giving the band their biggest hit in Round and Round and helping push the record into the mainstream. The album’s tight writing, swaggering vocals and polished attack made it a landmark of the era’s radio-friendly metal sound. Backed by the momentum of its singles, it became Ratt’s signature statement and one of the most recognisable releases in the hard rock boom of the mid-1980s.
