End Of The Century is the Ramones’ most divisive and commercially minded album, but it also delivered some of their sharpest hooks. Produced by Phil Spector, the 1980 record brought the band’s terse punk energy into a more polished pop-rock setting, most famously on the hit cover of Baby, I Love You and the rallying opener Do You Remember Rock ’N’ Roll Radio?. It marked a major shift in their sound, broadening their audience while splitting long-time fans. In retrospect, the album stands as an important document of how punk’s most iconic minimalists collided with wall-of-sound production and mainstream ambition.
