About this album
Sheer Heart Attack is the album where Queen sharpened their identity into something bigger, stranger and more immediate. Released in 1974, it pushed beyond the extended bombast of their early work, blending hard rock muscle, glam flair and progressive ambition into a tight, high-impact set. Brian May’s layered guitar work, Freddie Mercury’s theatrical songwriting and the band’s tightening arrangements gave the record real momentum, with Killer Queen becoming their first major international hit. From the riff-driven Stone Cold Crazy to the grandeur of Now I’m Here, it helped establish Queen as one of rock’s most distinctive and commercially successful bands.
