Queen II is an LP by Queen from 1974 released on the Elektra label.
About this album
Queen II is a bold, near-operatic leap forward that sharpened Queen’s theatrical hard rock into one of the band’s most distinctive early statements. Released in 1974, the album divided its sides between the darker, heavier “Black Side” and the more melodic “White Side”, matching Freddie Mercury’s flair with Brian May’s guitar orchestration and the band’s intricate harmonies. Produced by Roy Thomas Baker, it expanded the scale of Queen’s sound on songs such as “Ogre Battle”, “The Fairy Feller’s Master Stroke” and “The March of the Black Queen”. Though not their commercial breakthrough, it became a favourite among fans and laid important groundwork for the success that followed.
