About this album
Meddle is the album where Pink Floyd found the balance between experimental drift and focused composition that would define their peak years. Released in 1971, it bridges the loose psychedelia of the late 1960s with the expansive prog that followed, moving from the punch of “One of These Days” to the side-long “Echoes”, one of the group’s most celebrated pieces. Recorded during a transitional period for the band, it shows their growing confidence with atmosphere, dynamics and long-form structure without losing the melodic imagination that kept their sound distinctive. Often seen as a crucial step towards The Dark Side of the Moon, it remains one of their most important works.
