About this album
Lizard is one of King Crimson’s most ambitious and unsettling albums, pushing the band beyond heavy rock into complex, jazz-tinged prog. Released in 1970, it marked the first album with a largely new line-up and featured Robert Fripp alongside lyricist Pete Sinfield, with guest contributions that sharpened its theatrical, otherworldly feel. Its side-long title suite and pieces such as Cirkus (Including: Entry Of The Chameleons) and Indoor Games helped define the group’s taste for dramatic contrasts, unusual structures and barbed imagination. Though initially divisive, the album has become a key part of King Crimson’s reputation for fearless reinvention.
