    Sin After Sin is the album where Judas Priest began refining the sound that would make them metal standard-bearers. Released in 1977, it tightened the hard rock edge of their early work with faster riffs, darker drama and greater precision, while still leaving room for melody and dynamics. Produced by Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover, the record includes the band’s striking cover of Joan Armatrading’s Diamonds and Rust and the pummelling Dissident Aggressor, a song later cited as a key influence on thrash metal. It stands as an important step in the band’s rise and in heavy metal’s development.
