    Aqualung is Jethro Tull’s defining album, a 1971 prog rock landmark that fused heavy riffs, acoustic pastoralism and Ian Anderson’s wry, often confrontational writing. Built around songs such as the title track, “Locomotive Breath” and “My God”, it drew on themes of religion, poverty and alienation while widening the band’s sound far beyond blues-rock roots. Recorded with sharp dynamics and intricate arrangements, the album helped establish Jethro Tull as one of the era’s most distinctive British rock acts.
