Blood Visions is Jay Reatard’s ferocious garage-punk breakthrough, balancing scabrous intensity with sharp, immediate hooks. Released in 2006, it captured the Memphis musician after years in the underground, sharpening the speed and abrasion of his earlier work into a tighter, more focused statement. The record’s short, violent songs turn anxiety, alienation and frustration into direct, melodic punch, with the title track and ‘My Family’ among the album’s most striking moments. Widely regarded as a defining release in his catalogue, Blood Visions helped establish Reatard as one of the most vital punk songwriters of his generation.
