Songs For A Tailor is an LP by Jack Bruce from 1969 released on the ATCO Records label.
About this album
Songs For A Tailor is Jack Bruce’s boldest post-Cream statement, fusing rock heft with jazz-inflected improvisation and literate songwriting. Released in 1969, the album showed Bruce moving well beyond his role in Cream, with his bass playing, voice and compositional range taking centre stage. The record’s adventurous blend of prog rock, jazz-rock and fusion helped define a more expansive direction for late-1960s British rock, while songs such as Theme For An Imaginary Western and Rope Ladder To The Moon underline its melodic strength. It remains one of Bruce’s most admired solo works, noted for its ambition, musicianship and refusal to sound like a simple hard-rock follow-up.
