The Number of the Beast is Iron Maiden’s breakthrough heavy metal statement, and the album that pushed the New Wave of British Heavy Metal into the mainstream. Released in 1982, it marked the arrival of Bruce Dickinson on vocals and the first Maiden record produced by Martin Birch, giving the band a bigger, harder-edged sound without losing speed or precision. Driven by songs such as the title track, Run to the Hills and Hallowed Be Thy Name, it became a defining release of 1980s metal. Its commercial success and lasting influence made it one of the genre’s most important albums.
