About this album
Killers is the album where Iron Maiden sharpened their early sound into a harder, faster statement of intent. Their second studio record, released in 1981, was the last to feature Paul Di’Anno and the first with guitarist Adrian Smith, helping define the twin-guitar attack that became central to the band’s identity. Produced by Martin Birch, it delivers the raw charge of ‘Wrathchild’, ‘Murders in the Rue Morgue’ and the title track while pushing beyond debut-era roughness into more tightly structured heavy metal. Widely regarded as a key early NWOBHM release, Killers strengthened Maiden’s reputation well beyond the UK underground.
