Dream Into Action is Howard Jones’s breakthrough synth-pop album, and one of the defining British pop records of 1985. Building on the promise of his debut, it sharpened his blend of bright electronics, melodic hooks and optimistic songwriting into something both widescreen and immediate. The album produced major singles including Things Can Only Get Better and No One Is To Blame, helping Jones cross from new wave curiosity to international chart presence. Its polished yet human sound made him one of the era’s most distinctive mainstream electronic artists, and the record remains a key statement of mid-1980s synth-pop.
