Recorded in 1977, the album reunited Hancock with key figures from his mid-1960s Miles Davis Quintet era, alongside newer bandmates, for a set that draws on classics such as “Maiden Voyage” and “Nefertiti” while stretching into longer, harder-grooving improvisations. The performance confirms Hancock’s ability to honour acoustic jazz tradition without losing the rhythmic electricity of his fusion years.
