GoGo Penguin – Man Made Object (2xLP)

So one can confidently speak of a success story. After their debut "Fanfares" (2012) and the follow-up "v2.0", things really took off for the band: numerous major jazz festivals, gigs all over Europe, a tour of North America. A record deal with Blue Note Records followed.

GoGo Penguin's first album on the new label was called "Man Made Object", which stems from their fascination with robotics and technology. On it, pianist Chris Illingworth, bassist Nick Blacka and drummer Rob Turner do what they do best: modern acoustic jazz.

This in turn is based on the most diverse genre influences, including rock and classical and especially electronic music, which the band interprets with the help of their instruments. The result is their typical combination of catchy piano melodies, downright chasing beats and almost equally driving bass lines.

The proof is there with a total of ten new GoGo Penguin songs on "Man Made Object".

GoGo Penguin don't commit to one direction, instead they push the boundaries of jazz towards electronica with their music. "Man Made Object" shows why they are currently celebrating such great success with it.
