Vacation sharpened the Go-Go's into one of the most distinctive pop-rock acts of the early 1980s. Released in 1982, the album built on the band’s Los Angeles punk roots while leaning into glossy hooks, brisk rhythms and the tight harmonies that made them crossover stars. The title track became one of their biggest songs and helped push the album into the mainstream, while the rest of the record shows a group balancing playful punch with sharper-edged new wave instincts.
