Welcome To The Pleasuredome is the audacious debut that turned Frankie Goes To Hollywood into one of Britain’s biggest pop phenomena. Released in 1984, the album fused glossy synth-pop, pop-rock bombast and outsider attitude into a hugely ambitious statement, powered by the Trevor Horn production style that gave it its scale and polish. Built around hits such as Relax and Two Tribes, it balanced dance-floor force with sharp political and sexual provocation, helping define mid-1980s chart-pop excess. Its success made Frankie Goes To Hollywood emblematic of the era’s blockbuster singles culture and one of the most talked-about British debut albums of the decade.
