Mirage finds Fleetwood Mac sharpening their pop-rock instincts into a lighter, more song-driven follow-up to the blockbuster years of Rumours and Tusk. Released in 1982, the album reunited the core line-up around polished harmonies, guitar hooks and sturdy hooks designed for radio without abandoning the band’s familiar emotional tensions. Songs such as Hold Me and Gypsy gave Mirage its strongest commercial and cultural presence, with the album reaching No. 1 in the US and helping keep Fleetwood Mac central to mainstream rock in the early 1980s.
