There's One In Every Crowd finds Eric Clapton leaning into a looser, more reflective blend of blues rock, soft rock and gospel. Released in 1975, the album followed his self-titled breakthrough and The Hiding Place, and shows Clapton shaping a more relaxed, rootsy sound around songs such as We’ve Been Told (Jesus Coming Soon) and Swing Low Sweet Chariot. Recorded during a period when he was moving between spiritual searching and classic blues forms, the record emphasises feel over flash, with understated arrangements and a devotional edge that set it apart in his catalogue. It remains one of his more divisive but revealing 1970s albums.
