About this album
Trilogy is a confident high point in Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s early run, pairing grandiose prog ambition with a clearer melodic focus than much of their output. Issued in 1972, the album shows the trio stretching their technique without losing the taut songwriting that made them one of the era’s most visible rock acts. Keith Emerson’s keyboard work, Greg Lake’s resonant vocals and Carl Palmer’s intricate drumming give the record its dramatic sweep, while pieces such as From the Beginning and The Endless Enigma show their gift for contrast between delicacy and scale. It remains one of the group’s most admired and accessible albums.
