The album still shows their scale and technical reach, but in a more concise and commercial frame than earlier epics. Best known for its mixed critical reputation, Love Beach remains a telling snapshot of one of progressive rock’s most successful bands at a moment of transition, when virtuosity, melody and market pressures collided.
