Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! is an LP by Devo from 2020 released on the Warner Records label.
About this album
Devo’s debut album is a landmark of post-punk and new wave, turning pop form into a skewed satire of modern America. Produced by Brian Eno, Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! sharpened the band’s robotic precision, nervous guitars and deadpan humour into a sound that was both catchy and confrontational. Their brilliantly twisted cover of (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction signalled the album’s intent: familiar rock tropes were being dismantled and reassembled with intent. Released in 1978, it helped establish Devo as one of the era’s most original and influential art-rock bands, with a vision that still feels ahead of its time.
