Released in 1979, the album introduced Christopher Cross as a fully formed songwriter with a gift for elegant hooks and radio-ready craft. Produced by Michael Omartian, it blends soft rock, pop and light funk touches into a seamless, carefully shaped sound. The LP spawned enduring hits including Ride Like the Wind and Sailing, the latter becoming one of the era’s signature ballads. Widely regarded as one of the key yacht rock-era albums, it helped define a more polished strain of mainstream American pop.
