    Somethin' Else is a hard bop landmark and one of Cannonball Adderley’s defining albums. Recorded in 1958 and released that same year, the session brought together an exceptional quintet including Miles Davis, Hank Jones, Sam Jones and Art Blakey, with Davis’s lyrical trumpet adding star power to Adderley’s alto saxophone leadership. Built around refined standards such as Autumn Leaves and Love for Sale, plus the title track by Adderley’s brother Nat, the album balances cool poise with blues feeling and hard-driving swing. Its reputation has only grown over time, and it remains widely regarded as a classic of the bop era.
