About this album
Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) is Brian Eno’s sharpest and most fully realised early solo statement, where art-rock ideas meet sly pop instinct. Following his departure from Roxy Music, Eno worked with co-writer and producer Rhett Davies to build a more song-based but still unpredictable record, using inventive studio textures, fractured narratives and memorable hooks to push beyond straightforward rock. Released in 1974, it helped establish Eno as a singular solo artist rather than simply an ex-band member, and songs such as Burning Airlines Give You So Much More and The True Wheel show how easily he could turn experiment into something catchy, strange and enduring.
