Released in 1978, it sharpened Seger’s blue-collar storytelling into some of his most durable songs, including Hollywood Nights, Still The Same, Old Time Rock & Roll and We’ve Got Tonite. The record’s mix of heartland rock, soft rock polish and R&B feeling helped make Seger a mainstream force while keeping his rough-edged voice and working-class perspective intact. As one of the key albums in his catalogue, it became a defining statement of late-70s American rock and a long-running fan favourite.
