About this album
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is a pivotal Black Sabbath album that pushed heavy metal into more ambitious territory without losing the band’s crushing core. Released in 1973, it followed the group’s early run of genre-defining records and broadened their sound with layered arrangements, acoustic passages and a sharper sense of composition. Tony Iommi’s riffs, Ozzy Osbourne’s eerie vocals, Geezer Butler’s bass and Bill Ward’s drumming drive standout tracks such as the title song, A National Acrobat and Spiral Architect. Widely regarded as one of Sabbath’s finest works, it helped set the template for later heavy metal and progressive hard rock alike.
