    Master Of Reality is the album where Black Sabbath’s sound became darker, lower and more influential. Released in 1971, it built on the band’s earlier breakthroughs with heavier guitar tuning, crushing riffs and a starker, more deliberate pace that helped shape heavy metal’s vocabulary. Tony Iommi’s guitar work, Geezer Butler’s bass lines, Bill Ward’s drumming and Ozzy Osbourne’s unmistakable vocal delivery give the record its oppressive power, while songs such as Sweet Leaf and Children Of The Grave became enduring Sabbath touchstones. Widely regarded as one of the band’s essential albums, it remains a landmark in hard rock and metal history.
