Cheap Thrills is an LP by Big Brother & The Holding Company from 1973 released on the CBS label.
About this album
Cheap Thrills is the breakthrough album that turned Big Brother & The Holding Company into psych-blues icons and made Janis Joplin a star. Released in 1968, it fuses raw San Francisco energy with blues-derived songwriting and a fiercely expressive vocal performance, most famously on “Piece of My Heart” and the closing “Ball and Chain”. The album was produced by John Simon and later became one of the defining statements of the late-1960s counterculture, reaching No. 1 on the US Billboard 200. Its mix of grit, improvisation and mainstream impact helped set the standard for blues rock with psychedelic edge.
