About this album
Asia’s self-titled debut is a sharply polished marriage of prog-rock sophistication and radio-ready AOR. Formed by members of Yes, King Crimson, ELP and The Buggles, the supergroup arrived in 1982 with a sound designed for FM radio without abandoning musical scale or precision. Produced by Mike Stone and the band, it delivered the hit singles Heat of the Moment and Only Time Will Tell, both of which helped make the album a transatlantic blockbuster. The record topped the US charts and became one of the defining mainstream rock releases of the early 1980s, balancing muscular hooks, glossy production and veteran musicianship.
