ABBA’s self-titled third album is the record that sharpened the group’s formula into world-class pop. Released in 1975, it followed their early Eurovision success and brought a clearer, more confident sound, balancing catchy melodies with polished harmonies and a greater sense of studio craft. Songs such as Mamma Mia, SOS and I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do helped establish the band far beyond Scandinavia and showed how fully Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus could write for both immediacy and longevity. It is a key step in the run that made ABBA one of pop’s most enduring acts.
