Sheet Music is one of 10cc’s sharpest early statements, blending pop instinct with art-rock mischief and immaculate studio detail. Issued in 1974, the band’s second album sharpened the satirical edge of The Wall Street Shuffle and The Worst Band in the World while stretching out into more ambitious, multi-layered arrangements. Built by the group’s four-way songwriting partnership, it showed 10cc combining melodic punch, deadpan humour and technical inventiveness in a way that set them apart from their peers. The result helped establish their reputation as one of the most clever and commercially astute British rock acts of the 1970s.
