Yo-Yo Ma is a world-renowned cellist, who has been performing for over 50 years. Born in Paris to Chinese parents, he began studying the cello at the age of four. After mastering the instrument, he went on to become the first cellist to earn a degree from Harvard University.

Ma has released over 100 albums in his lifetime, and is most well known for his solo recordings and collaborations with other classical musicians. His most notable recordings include The Swan (1981), Appassionato (1996), and Songs of Joy and Peace (2008). He has also collaborated with artists from a variety of musical genres, including Bobby McFerrin, James Taylor, and the Silk Road Ensemble.

One interesting fact about Yo-Yo Ma is that he has been awarded 19 Grammy Awards, the most of any classical musician. He has also been awarded the National Medal of Arts, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Polar Music Prize.
