X Vinyl Records

X is an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1977. The band's original members were vocalist Exene Cervenka, vocalist-bassist John Doe, guitarist Billy Zoom, and drummer D.J. Bonebrake. They released their debut album, Los Angeles, in 1980, which featured their standout single, "Your Phone's Off the Hook, but You're Not". The album was an immediate success and set the template for the band's unique mix of punk and country music.

X's follow-up album, Wild Gift, was released in 1981 and was even more successful than its predecessor. The album included the popular singles "White Girl" and "We're Desperate", and was named "Album of the Year" by Rolling Stone magazine. The band's third album, Under the Big Black Sun, was released in 1982 and featured the singles "The Hungry Wolf" and "Motel Room in My Bed".

X's fourth album, More Fun in the New World, was released in 1983 and was the band's most commercially successful album, spawning the hit singles "The World's a Mess; It's in My Kiss" and "I Must Not Think Bad Thoughts". The band's fifth album, Ain't Love Grand, was released in 1985 and included the single "Burning House of Love".

X continued to release albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s, including the studio albums See How We Are (1987), Hey Zeus! (1993), and Unclogged (1995). The band's most recent studio album is Alphabetland, released in 2020.

An interesting fact about X is that they were the first punk band to perform at the White House, having been invited to play by President Bill Clinton in 1993.
