Wilhelm Furtwängler (1886–1954) was a German conductor and composer who was one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. He is best known for his interpretation of the works of Beethoven, Brahms, and other classical composers.
Furtwängler's standout albums include his 1952 recording of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 and No. 7, his 1951 recording of Brahms' Symphonies Nos. 1-4, and his 1954 recording of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. His recordings of the symphonies of Bruckner, Schubert, and Mozart are also highly acclaimed.
