Vladimir Ashkenazy Vinyl Records
Vladimir Ashkenazy is an internationally acclaimed classical pianist and conductor born in Russia in 1937. He began his musical career at the age of six, studying at the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory. Ashkenazy quickly rose to prominence, winning first prize at the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium Piano Competition in 1956.
In the early years of his career, Ashkenazy performed and recorded extensively as a soloist and chamber musician. He has made a number of notable recordings, including his acclaimed series of Mozart piano concertos with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and recordings of Tchaikovsky's first and third piano concertos with the London Symphony Orchestra. He has also recorded works by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, and Prokofiev.
Some of Ashkenazy's standout albums include his 2001 recording of Beethoven's Piano Concertos Nos. 1-5 with the Philharmonia Orchestra and his 2008 release of Prokofiev's Piano Concertos Nos. 1-5 with the San Francisco Symphony.
An interesting fact about Vladimir Ashkenazy is that he has also composed music for films, including the 1978 Soviet drama A Cruel Romance. He also collaborated with American composer John Williams on the music for the 1991 film Hook.
