  • 45th anniversary: Extended edition with 4 unreleased bonus tracks, including the previously unreleased song "Like A B-Film"

Gary Numan's second studio album "Telekon" was released in 1980 and was his third consecutive number one album in the UK. Gary describes this album, along with its two predecessors, "Tubeway Armys Replicas" and his debut solo album "The Pleasure Principle", as the "machine" phase of his career. Although it was difficult to build on the success of the previous releases, "Telekon" proved to be extremely influential. Unlike its predecessors, "Telekon" contained many guitars, strings and lush synthesizer sounds. Trent Reznor claimed to have listened to the album daily during the production of Pretty Hate Machine.

Earlier this year, a visit to Gary's archives allowed for extensive research, and among all the treasures, unreleased "Telekon" material was found. We are very pleased to present four unreleased tracks in this extended edition of "Telekon". "Like A B-Film" is a completely unreleased, unfinished track from the album sessions. The other three tracks are previously unreleased early versions of "Please Push No More", "Aircrash Bureau" and "I'm An Agent". The album was remastered by Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road Studios and is released on double, shimmering black vinyl. The reworked artwork is by Michael Speed of Beggars, who has often collaborated with Gary on his Beggars reissues. Also included is a reproduction of the original 12-page "Telekon" tour booklet from 1980.

"'Telekon' always holds a special place for me when I look back on the early years. I was very proud of it. I thought the production had improved significantly. I was also proud that I didn't go down the commercial route and try to replicate the formula and sound of 'Cars' and 'Are 'Friends' Electric? I wanted to evolve and find new sounds. I think it was quite a brave move not to go down a safer, more formulaic route as I suddenly had a lot to lose after the success of the previous year." - Gary Numan
