The Swingers Vinyl Records

The Swingers are a New Zealand rock band formed in 1979 by guitarist and vocalist Phil Judd, bassist Bones Hillman, and drummer Paul Hewson. They released their debut album, Counting the Beat, in 1981. It featured their popular single, “Counting the Beat”, which reached No. 1 on the New Zealand Singles Chart and No. 15 on the Australian Singles Chart. The album was certified Platinum in New Zealand and Gold in Australia.

The Swingers' follow-up album, One Good Reason, was released in 1982 and was certified Gold in New Zealand. It featured the singles “One Good Reason” and “Tears”, which both reached No. 1 on the New Zealand Singles Chart.

The Swingers released their third and final album, Take It or Leave It, in 1984. It featured the singles “Bigger Than Both of Us”, “Take It or Leave It”, and “I Just Can't Help Myself”. The band split up shortly after the release of the album.

An interesting fact about The Swingers is that their song “Counting the Beat” was sampled by the Black Eyed Peas for their 2005 hit “Don't Phunk with My Heart”.
