The Stems Vinyl Records

The Stems are an Australian rock band formed in 1984 in Perth, Western Australia. The original lineup included Dom Mariani on guitar and vocals, Richard Lane on guitar, John Shuttleworth on bass, and Julian Matthews on drums. The band is known for its 1960s-influenced garage rock and power pop sound.

The Stems released their debut album, At First Sight Violets Are Blue, in 1987. The album featured several of the band's signature songs, including "Make You Mine," "She's a Monster," and "Sad Girl." The band followed up with the albums Stems, Beat, and Blow (1989), Heads Up (1992), and Mistaken Identity (1996).

The band's standout album is arguably At First Sight Violets Are Blue, which has been hailed as one of the best albums of the 1980s. The album has been cited as an influence by bands such as The Replacements, The Smithereens, and The Posies.

An interesting fact about The Stems is that they reunited in 2007 for a series of live shows, and released their first new album in 20 years, Tears Of Joy, in 2008. The band continues to perform live, and released a new album, Gimme The Love, in 2020.
