The Groop Vinyl Records
The Groop was an Australian pop/rock band, originally formed in Sydney in 1966. The original lineup consisted of lead singer and keyboardist Warren Morgan, guitarist Tony Lombardi, bassist Peter Robinson, and drummer John Speering.
The Groop released four albums over their career, their most successful being 1969's "It's The Groop Playing". It was a top 20 hit in Australia and featured the singles "Momma" and "Woman You're Breaking Me".
Their next album, 1970's "Good Times" was their only LP to be released outside of Australia and was well-received in the UK. It spawned the hit single "Such a Lovely Day" and featured the group's most successful single, "The Real Thing".
The group disbanded in 1972, but their music has remained popular over the years. Their singles and albums have been reissued several times, and in 2000 the group was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
An interesting fact about The Groop is that they were the first band to be signed to Mushroom Records, the Australian record label founded by Michael Gudinski.
