The Call Vinyl Records
The Call was a post-punk band from Santa Cruz, California that was active from 1979-2000. The band was initially founded by frontman Michael Been and bassist Tom Ferrier and was soon joined by drummer Scott Musick and guitarist Jim Goodwin.
The Call's first two albums, 1980's Modern Romans and 1982's Reconciled, were lauded for their combination of post-punk and spiritual themes and earned them critical acclaim. The band's most successful album, 1986's Into the Woods, spawned their most popular single, "Let the Day Begin", which was used in the film The Breakfast Club and reached the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100.
The Call's other standout albums included 1987's Red Moon, 1991's Let the Day Begin, 1995's To Heaven and Back, and 1998's To the Waters and the Wild. Their best-known songs included "Everywhere I Go", "The Walls Came Down", "The Walls Came Down (Reprise)", "Turn a Blind Eye", "We Will Rise Again", "I Still Believe", and "Surrender".
An interesting fact about The Call is that in 1994, their song "I Still Believe" was featured in the film The Crow, which starred Michael Been's son, Brandon Lee.
