The Boomtown Rats Vinyl Records

The Boomtown Rats are an Irish punk rock band formed in 1975 in Dublin, Ireland. The band is led by singer and songwriter Bob Geldof and is best known for their 1977 hit single “I Don’t Like Mondays”.

The Boomtown Rats released their debut album, The Boomtown Rats, in 1977. It featured the hit singles “Lookin’ After No. 1” and “Mary of the 4th Form”. Their follow-up album, A Tonic for the Troops, was released in 1978 and featured the hit single “Rat Trap”. The album also contained the single “Like Clockwork”, which was the band’s first Top 40 hit in the UK.

The Boomtown Rats’ third album, The Fine Art of Surfacing, was released in 1979 and was the band’s most successful album. It contained the hit singles “Someone’s Looking at You” and “I Don’t Like Mondays”, which was the band’s biggest hit and reached number one on the UK Singles Chart.

The Boomtown Rats released three more studio albums in the 1980s: Mondo Bongo (1981), In the Long Grass (1984) and Citizens of Boomtown (1986).

An interesting fact about The Boomtown Rats is that their hit single “I Don’t Like Mondays” was inspired by a school shooting that occurred in San Diego in 1979.
