Terence Trent D'Arby, also known as Sananda Maitreya, is an American singer-songwriter and record producer. He is best known for his 1987 debut album, Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby, which included the singles "Wishing Well" and "Sign Your Name". This album was a commercial and critical success, and earned D'Arby a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance, Male.
D'Arby released two more albums in the 1990s, Neither Fish Nor Flesh (1989) and Symphony or Damn (1993). Neither Fish Nor Flesh was certified gold in the UK and was critically acclaimed, though it was not as commercially successful as Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby. Symphony or Damn was a moderate success, with the single "She Kissed Me" becoming a Top 20 hit in the UK.
D'Arby has released several additional albums in the 2000s and 2010s, including Wildcard (2003), Angels & Vampires (2005), and The Rise of the Zugebrian Time Lords (2009).
