Teddy Wilson was an American jazz pianist and composer born in Austin, Texas in 1912. He is best known for being part of the Benny Goodman Trio, which he joined in 1935 and performed with for three years. He also performed with the likes of Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Armstrong. Wilson was a major influence on jazz piano, and his melodic and sophisticated style was a major influence on the swing era.

Wilson released numerous albums throughout his career, including his first album β€œTeddy Wilson & His Orchestra” in 1937 and β€œTeddy Wilson & His Orchestra Vol. 2” in 1938. His most notable albums include β€œTeddy Wilson & His Orchestra at Carnegie Hall” in 1939, which featured classics such as β€œHow High the Moon” and β€œStardust”. Other standout albums include β€œThe Teddy Wilson Trio”, β€œTeddy Wilson & His All Star Jam Band”, and β€œTeddy Wilson Trio Plays the Classics”.

Some of Wilson’s most popular songs include β€œLullaby of Birdland”, β€œI Got Rhythm”, β€œBlue Moon”, and β€œI’ll Remember April”.

An interesting fact about Teddy Wilson is that he was the first African American jazz musician to be featured as a regular member of a white band. He was also the first African American musician to appear on the cover of a record album.
