T-Bone Walker was an American blues guitarist, singer and songwriter who is considered to be one of the founding fathers of electric blues. Born in Linden, Texas in 1910, Walker was an important influence on the development of electric blues guitar playing. He was one of the first blues musicians to use a pick and to incorporate jazz and swing elements into the blues. His standout albums include Call It Stormy Monday (1942), T-Bone Blues (1947) and The Complete Imperial Recordings (1992). His songs such as "T-Bone Shuffle," "Stormy Monday," and "Call It Stormy Monday" are still widely performed and recorded by contemporary artists.
An interesting fact about T-Bone Walker is that he was the first artist to use a Fender Stratocaster guitar. He purchased the guitar in 1954 and used it on his albums The Complete Imperial Recordings and T-Bone Blues. The use of the Stratocaster guitar helped to revolutionize the sound of the electric blues.
